Hard drive destruction

Free hard drive shredding

Free hard drive shredding is an available option to help protect your confidential data. Destroying a hard disk drive by shredding is a very thorough process.
At Ecycle Atlanta we use an industrial hard drive shredder, the Ameri-Shred AMS-150HD, made here in the U.S.A.. We chose this shredder because it gives us flexibility on where we can operate.
Due to its mobility, we can either destroy hard drives at our warehouse, or onsite at your place of business.

How-to

shred a
hard drive

As the name implies, the shredding process rips the (HDD) hard disk drive to “shreds” by putting it through a series of rotating blades, completely damaging the drive and components, including the platter that holds the data. At this point, the original HDD can no longer function as intended.
Due to the physical destruction, the hard drive is reduced to recyclable raw material. The shredded material now moves to the final step of the recycling process for maximum sustainability.

types and sizes

Most of the internal hard drives that we shred are from office servers, computers and laptops.
Our shredder can handle all sizes of drives, including form factors of 3.5 inches and 2.5 inches, and all types including IDE, SATA, SAS, SCCI and SSD
As far as hard drive manufacturers go, the most frequent ones we see are:

no fee, it's free

The cost to shred hard drives is often a concern when choosing a data destruction company. In fact, it may be difficult to put a price on keeping your digitally encoded data safe. All things considered, though, Ecycle Atlanta makes it an easy decision. Instead of charging a fee to destroy your hard drives, we provide our hard drive shredding service for free. You might say our motto is “No Fee, It’s Free!”
As a result, our customers can enjoy free hard drive destruction in exchange for allowing us to recycle their surplus IT equipment. In conclusion, both our recycling services and hard drive destruction are provided free of charge.
